About Hayley

Dr Hayley Lewis

Hello there! My name is Hayley and I’m the founder of HALO Psychology.

HALO is a consultancy using deep expertise in the field of psychology, combined with first-hand experience of leading successful multi-million pound services, to help people like you create amazing workplaces, teams and careers where you can shine.

I’m a chartered coaching psychology and HCPC registered occupational psychologist, using an evidence-based, strengths-focused and collaborative approach to my work. This positive approach is really important to me as it’s the thing I’ve found in my 25-year career, that can make the difference in moving to a bright, shining new world.

I’m known for getting things done and for being a trouble-shooter.

My ability to cut through all the noise and quickly get to the heart of what is going on is one of the things that others have said sets me apart. There’s no messing about if you work with me. We’ll be focused on achieving whatever it is you want to achieve but don’t worry… we’ll have some fun too!

Indeed, “laser focused” is a term that’s been used by many of my colleagues over the years when talking about my strengths. This is why I had so many brilliant opportunities to lead and transform different types of services, from customer services, to strategic ICT, to communications and digital transformation. You can check out my LinkedIn profile if you want more detail.

I’m a cross between a high-beam torch, a guardian angel and a mountain guide

I’m regularly approached by managers facing tough problems in the workplace. My experience means I can help shine a light through the darkness, to help you create a map to develop your skills and build your confidence across a range of management and leadership issues.

Unlike lots of other business psychologists, I’ve been in various management and leadership roles, leading high pressure multi-million pound services. In other words, I’ve walked the beaten path you’re on and I can share my tried-and-tested psychological tools (along with my own battle scars) to help you. Ultimately, you’ll feel less alone and more hopeful about the future.

I have a successful blend of academic rigour and real-world experience.

I’ve used my training as an occupational psychologist in the various leadership roles I’ve held and as a result, I’ve had plenty of first-hand experience of applying psychological theory to a variety of real-life situations.

I’m a guest lecturer at several UK universities on Masters programmes in Organisational and Business Psychology. In my lectures I weave in my experience of leading operational services to bring psychological theory to life. My specialist topics are leadership and management behaviour; and organisational culture and change.

Since 2022, I have been joint Programme Director for part one of the Professional Doctorate in Occupational Psychology, at Birkbeck (University of London). Part one is a two-year MRes qualification which focuses on excellence in professional practice. Our practitioners-in-training provide six professional practice portfolios across the five core areas of occupational psychology. At the end of part one, our students are able to register with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered practitioner psychologist. They then go on to part two, which is doctoral research, at the end of which, pending successful defense of research, they gain chartered psychologist status and are able to call themselves a Doctor of Occupational Psychology (DOccPsych).

HALO is focused on and fascinated by the factors that enable people to thrive

And ultimately, this is the foundation to all that my business, HALO Psychology, delivers.

Whether that’s with individuals, through  coaching; working with teams; or supporting organisations to become the best places to work.

I’m also BIG on sharing as much as possible for FREE. I know that not everyone can afford coaching or consultancy which is why on this website you’ll find free downloadable e-books, sketchnotes, blog posts, checklists and the link to my You Tube channel.

And if you’re still not sure about working with me, here’s some stuff about the recognition I’ve received for my work in leadership development and organisational change.
